About how much would you estimate the cost to be to get my red 2013 Scion FR-S repainted to mint green with a black roof? Also, how much more would it cost, if possible, to get it done matte?

Blue. Need a basic job so the car looks nice, has a few dents but I don't want them fixed, the paint is peeling off and would just like a basic job so the car looks sort of new, I would appreciate an approximate price.
Cheers

Subject: Going from gold to Pearl white

I'm looking at getting a used good condition 1999 camry. Though I do not like the gold color. It's all gold and beige interior. But I made the decision and thought about changing it from gold to pearl white with a sheen of blue. How much would it be to do that. Full body paint. Not just exterior.

Subject: Need passenger side mirror painted black pearl to match Honda

I was side-swiped by a guy in his F150 when he wasn't paying attention. How much would it cost to get the passenger side power mirror replacement painted to match the car? How much for the set of passenger and driver side power mirrors? The car: 1992 Honda Accord EX coupe, black pearl paint.

Thanks!

Subject: 2007 CHEVY DUALLY

Hello, I have a 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado dually. The reason for me commenting is because my dually bed needs repainting to match my truck. My truck is red and the bed is like a grey metallic. The bed has no dings and is in like new condition. How much would y'all charge to repaint to match my red truck?

Subject: cost to paint truck bed

Today I just finished priming a 2008 F550 dump box that I have converted into a custom bed with box to house Eguipment reels and air compressor. After teardown and removal of all rusted through framing members and installing Tubular members all the way around bed and modifying the head board allowing visual recognition of pumps and trailer for driver convenience. I would put a price of $2500.00 for paint and application. This price would include only materials and complete spraying of primer and paint and masking of truck bed only. If there is any repairs needed or removal of rust on bed there would be additional costs. For that we would need to take a look at the truck bed. For demolition, istallation of new bed framing members and modifications of headboard and additional secure, weather resistant reels and compressor house, 3M undercoating, rear chassis and bed media blasting, full sanding/blasting, priming and finish coat the cost will be real close to $9,000 everything included. If the bed needs alot of work it might be smart to price a new one. The reason the costs are so great is because there is so much more work then just shooting it with paint. especially if it is a custom design. if one keeps the bed on the truck it become much more difficult and time consuming having to worry about protecting the parts of the truck that need no work done. And all it takes is one ahhh shit to wreck a day. expect a few days if its just paint and a good handfull of weeks if she needs body work done. Patients is the biggest factor in a refurbish.

Subject: Paint the bottom half of my car

My car was damaged from small dents and cracks in the plastic, so I replaced all the bad parts rear bumper, front bumper, right front fender, and the right passenger mirror and they are all new black primer the car is a 2006 Toyota Correll in the original greenish ,blue color, if the paint matches it would only need the bottom half from the windows down refinished, so can you recommend someone who can do this at a reasonal cos,t . Also. I can sand and tape the rubber on the windows so they would only have to tape over my tape to cover the top. Could you give the app, cost?

Subject: Great post!

This is a great article with some basics. I've never painted a car, but I love my old Jeep and it's time to bring it back to it's glory days, so this was a great starting point for me. Thanks so much!

Subject: Keep in mind that the vehicle

Keep in mind that the vehicle needs to be taken apart so that the jams can be painted. If you just want to paint it then I'd estimate around $2200 for paint time not including material which will run you about $1760 and also not including time to take the car apart. So you're looking at a price upwards of $4000, unless someone is willing to do it in their garage.

Subject: Cost to repaint a car.

Every once in a while we will take a call from someone wanting to know what it would cost to repaint their car. For us (body shop geared towards insurance work on late model collision damaged vehicles), Our "Full repaints" starts at $10,000.00 for an average size sedan, Trucks, Vans & SUVs would be more. This amount will typically cover the labor & materials & disassembly of the vehicle for a proper paint job. We start by taking the whole exterior of the car apart. Handle, Moldings, Bumpers, Headlights, Taillights, Glass & weather strips. This allows us to get paint around every edge of every panel.
Try to mask these items off & while it will look ok for a while it will eventually start peeling at all of these locations.
That starting price does not include any body work.
So if you have dents & dings, spots of collision or rust expect that price to increase.
With todays basecoat clear coat paints on an average mid size sedan Material cost alone (depending on color) will range from $1000.00 to $3500.00
I would be leery of any shop that says they can repaint a car for less than $5000.00. $3000.00 maybe if they are using a value line paint product or a single stage.
It would be a good idea to talk to the shop first & maybe get a written estimate of what is going to be done before signing repair authorizations. Ask them if they are masking off trims or taking the car apart for a proper paint job.

I second the original question (still unanswered). Speaking as someone who logged in today to try to find an attorney, I see this category as one that's exactly what I have my Angie's List membership for:

1. It's important that I find a good one
2. I'm not an expert enough to know myself who is a good one
3. The industry is full of advertisements and misinformation
4. I wish I knew what experiences other people have had

I don't care about lawns--I planted mine in clover and don't have to mow it. When I do need to mow I use a rotary Fiskars mower, which is great--or a scythe. That's right--a scythe (the European type, which is smaller, and it's very good exercise). Gas-powered mowers, chemical fertilizers and weed killers--all nasty stuff that gets into everyone's air, soil, and water. I'm sure my neighbor doesn't like my wildflowers, semi-wild pockets of fruit bushes, and unmown areas and yes, dandelions (I have 10 acres) but that's too bad. It's better habitat for wildlife, especially the pollinators on which our food supply depends. I think this obsession with the Great American Lawn is a waste of time and resources. Plant some food instead.

I'm not sure Angie et. al. want you to have a complete answer to this question. By re-subscribing at the Indiana State Fair in 2012, I think I paid $20.00 per year for a multi- year subscription. Maybe even less. At the other extreme--and I hope my memory isn't faulty about this--I think the price, for my area, for ONE year was an outrageous $70.00. And they debited me automatically without warning. I had to opt out of that automatic charge. I like Angie's List, but if some of the companies they monitor behaved the way they do in this respect, they'd be on some sort of Pages of Unhappiness. I'll be interested to see if this comment gets published or censored out of existence.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.
