How to keep squirrels out of your house

Submitted by Gregg Nelson of Big Bear Wildlife Control Litter

Squirrels have two litters a year - in spring and summer.

There isn't much you can do to stop a squirrel from coming inside your house if she is determined to go in. Make sure your gable end vents have hardware cloth over them on the inside. Screening will not stop them.

Do not use a bird feeder during the summer, as the birds have enough to eat now. You can try to live trap squirrels in your home, but call a professional to relocate them, as it's against the law to do so without a license. Never put rat traps down, as all you'll do is injure the squirrel.
