Houston plumber helps save water

Saving water means saving money. Alan O'Neill, president of  highly rated Abacus Plumbing LLC, weighs in on how homeowners can help reduce usage.

What can homeowners do to conserve water?

O'Neill: "Checking the home for leaks is a key component to conserving water usage. Most homeowners think if water is not showing on a ceiling, wall or floor then they don’t have a leak.

"However running toilets can be a source of leaks without a homeowner even realizing it is happening. A good tip is to drop a small amount of food coloring into the toilet tank, if the water in the toilet bowl starts to turn the color of the dye, then there is a problem in the tank that needs to be resolved. Make sure outside water faucets are turned off after use as well."
