Houston landscaper transforms yard

Angie’s List member Andrea Reid and her husband, Dan, repaired the foundation of their Kingwood, Texas, home and ruined much of their landscaping in the process.

The Reids saw this as an opportunity to install the landscaping they desired for a long time. “My husband and I are not gardeners,” Andrea says. “So it just didn’t look the way I wanted it to look.”

The Reids held off on the landscaping for a while because they knew it would be expensive. However, after completing foundation and flooring work, they decided to get it out of the way. “The last thing on our list of home improvements was the landscaping,” Andrea says.

Andrea says she knew she wanted smaller beds in the front, a path from the driveway to the sidewalk and she didn’t want to be able to see the fence in the backyard. The Reids hired highly rated Landscape & Design of Houston to achieve these goals. Andrea says they drew plans for the yard and asked her what type of plants she liked. “I chose Landscape & Design because I liked the design and it incorporated everything I wanted,” she says.

The project, which cost about $16,000 to complete, met their landscaping budget, but adding a flagstone patio nearly doubled what they originally intended to spend. Andrea says she’s excited every time she drives to the house now. “The front yard looks exactly how we wanted,” she says. “The backyard is like a retreat now.”
