Homeowner says Scottsdale remodeler took money and ran
I hired Fuller Builders and John Fuller of Scottsdale, Ariz., to remodel my home. John took the first three installment payments of $16,000 and started the work. I was impressed with the results. He came back for the second installment of $24,000, after which the remodeling work completely stopped.
His subcontractors kept coming to me asking me why they weren’t getting paid. No additional work was done after that. He swore he used the money to pay for the kitchen and bath cabinets he ordered. He even gave me a fake receipt, which looked like a quote. I paid him over 80 percent of the contract, and he’s only finished 10 percent. He never returns calls or texts and I’ve heard horror stories from his unpaid subcontractors about him not paying them. I offered to pay the subs directly in order to avoid any cash flowing through John. I’ve now paid the painter, plumber, plaster, HVAC and audio video guy directly to ensure they were paid. One of his subs even kicked in my door and stole construction items. Do not trust this company. I want a $30,000 refund.

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
