Homeowner says refund check on remodel bounced
We planned to have Home Solutions in St. Louis do a kitchen remodel.
We gave Home Solutions a deposit, which they insisted on in order to “hold pricing” for the kitchen project. We decided to use a different company (thank goodness).
According to our contract, we had 45 days to cancel for full refund of $4,835. We requested that refund 20 days later. Home Solutions didn’t respond to calls and emails.
Finally, we received a reply that owner Kevin Maloney would personally deliver the refund check. When he did, though, he asked that we hold the check and not cash it for three days because he didn’t have the money yet and was waiting to get paid from another job.
We waited those three days, but the check still bounced. We’d like a refund of $4,835 in the form of either a money order or cashier’s check.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
