Homeowner says Phoenix woodworker failed to return deposit

Member complaint

I hired Artisan 1 United of Phoenix to build an entertainment center. The owner’s previous work on a kitchen cabinet install was great, so I hired him again.

I gave the owner a $1,500 deposit for the entertainment center, but he never provided the product or returned my money. I located him at his place of business and he signed a contract for repayment of the $1,500. He did make payments per the schedule initially, but he stopped making payments after only paying $400. Since then, he has been unresponsive and fails to make any attempt to refund the remaining amount due.

He didn’t start or complete the entertainment center. He is not to be trusted. I want the unrefunded portion of my deposit returned.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to mediate disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
