Homeowner says Orlando lawn care company left lot overgrown
I hired 5 Star Property Maintenance of Orlando to provide lawn and pool care for my vacation home in Kissimmee, Fla. I used them for about 18 months. I should have fired them, but my husband kept hoping they would improve.
They knew we didn’t visit often and took advantage of this. The HOA reprimanded us more than once for an overgrown lawn.
I arrived unexpectedly to find tall grass and high weeds. We called on a Friday and they said they would get to it on Monday.
We sold the home and told the new family the lawn service was paid for two months. The new owners complained to my Realtor that the lawn wasn’t mowed at the closing, so I had to reimburse them for two months of lawn service. 5 Star says the new homeowners refused the service, which isn’t true. They expected the service. This company thought the house was empty, so they never went back.
They’ve been hard to work with from the beginning. I would never recommend them. They did a lousy job. I shouldn’t have ever been turned in to the HOA when I was paying for services. My mistake was paying in advance. I want a $450 refund.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to mediate disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
