Homeowner says Naples home watch company won’t return house key
I hired Dolphin Home Watch of Naples, Fla., to keep an eye my home while I was in New Jersey.
Owner Jim McDonough was supposed to come once a month and provide photos of the home. He didn’t take photos unless I specifically asked for them. He came when another company installed hurricane shutters to see how they functioned and how they were installed.
He was very difficult to reach and didn’t respond quickly to emails. After I gave him the key, he didn’t email me back. He later said he was visiting colleges with his son. That’s understandable once; however, he was unresponsive on additional occasions.
I’ve now moved to Florida full-time and let him know this. He responded quickly to the email and said he would return the key. It never happened.
I contacted him three more times and said I didn’t make him wait for payment for his services and I would appreciate a quick response to my request for a returned key.
He hasn’t responded or returned the key.
I wouldn’t use him again. I want my key returned or a phone call stating why he can’t do so.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
