Homeowner says contractor took the money and ran

Member complaint

I hired Orban Contracting in Nashua, New Hampshire, to install kitchen cabinets and a countertop, and fix a leaky roof.

After providing an estimate, owner Ron Orban took a $2,500 deposit for materials. I haven't seen them since. For about a month they corresponded, and they made multiple excuses for why they couldn't make it on the days promised. They never gave me the courtesy of a phone call beforehand. Instead, they gave the excuse hours after their scheduled arrival, and after I’d call them multiple times.

It has been one month since I received any contact whatsoever from them and almost three months since I paid the deposit. They completed no work, and as for the cabinets they told me were ordered, I have not seen those either. They will rob you. I wish I had read the other review on Angie’s List before hiring them. They recently moved to Maine and have posted their services on another site.

I want a refund of my deposit of $2,500, the materials and the cash left over from uncompleted work, or the work completed.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement. Subject: Ron Orban Stole From Us Too

Ron Orban also stole about $3,000 from my husband and I - and stole tools and materials from our house as well. That was carefully-saved money that we will never, ever recover.
