Homeowner says Chicago-area tile company never delivered
I hired Terrace Tile in Villa Park, Illinois, to install new laminate in my kitchen and adjacent areas. When I signed the agreement at the store, I gave them a $1,000 down payment. They told me the flooring would be delivered within a week, with installation a few days later.
They cashed the check within two days, but two weeks later, none of them had contacted me and the delivery had not occurred. I called and stopped by the store several times, and finally spoke to the owner. He told me that due to financial issues with the business, the flooring couldn’t be purchased until Terrace Tile paid an outstanding balance to the distributor.
I told him I wanted my down payment returned. The owner assured me he would work out a solution and call me back before the end of the day. A week later, I still haven’t heard back. I’ve left numerous voicemail messages, and the shop is always closed when I stop by.
The last few times I walked by, I looked through the windows and saw that a significant area of the showroom had been emptied. I would like a $1,000 refund.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
