Homeowner says Chesterland sealcoating company did poor job on driveway

Member Complaint

I hired Best Asphalt Sealcoating of Chesterland, Ohio, to sealcoat my driveway and repair some cracks. The work was absolutely terrible.

I paid them all of the money upfront and within a week, the driveway started to crack and crumble, and the sealcoating was coming off the driveway. I was satisfied with the area at the foot of my driveway that they repaired, but the time the service manager took to come out and look at the other problems was unacceptable. I waited seven weeks for him to come look at the driveway. Even the city inspector said the company needs to correct the areas where they didn’t properly seal the cracks.

Instead of offering to correct the problem immediately, they waited several months and recommended an overlay of the driveway, which would cost me an additional $3,000. I want a $1,150 refund and want the problem areas corrected for free.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
