Homeowner says Austin pest control company double-charged for work
I hired Reliant Pest Management of Austin, Texas, to treat the interior and exterior of my house for fire ants. Their price was $50, which I thought was great because I’d previously used another well-known pest control company in Austin that charges quite a bit more. Their salesman told me that after the work was done, someone would check back in two weeks to see if our problem was solved.
The guy who did the treatment was on time and very friendly. He did the work and told me to call back if I saw more activity. Three weeks later, I still had ants, so I asked Reliant to check back in. The treatment guy came out, saw the ants and did another treatment. But afterward, they charged my credit card $92 for the service.
My understanding from the salesman was there would be no additional charge for follow-up work. I called the manager, and he was quite rude and denied I had been told someone would come back out. Now I’m out my money, and I still have ants in my backyard. I would like a $92 refund.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to mediate disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
