Homeowner says Akron movers poorly packed storage unit and damaged TV
I hired B & B Moving Storage Packing of Akron, Ohio, to move furniture from my house to a storage shed. The company estimated my move would take around six-and-a-half hours. Instead, it took more than 14 hours to complete.
It was a disaster from the start. Two movers complained of being tired from another move. The head mover couldn’t remember anything I told him. They didn’t bring tools or a dolly and had to use my tools.
They carried boxes one or two at a time and at one point ran over things on both sides of my driveway. They also charged me 30 minutes for each leg of the trip, but my GPS said it should only take seven minutes.
Also, they never told me during the estimate that I needed to have my gas dryer disconnected by a plumber, so I had to hire an emergency plumber to unhook the dryer during the move. This further delayed the move.
The manager did accept payment for 10 hours, instead of 14 after I complained. But to make matters worse, when I opened the storage shed a few weeks later, the new movers were appalled with the packing job this company did. My 50-inch TV was on a high shelf, unpadded with a crack in the screen. The TV didn’t work after the move.
When I called the company, the manager refused to discuss the problem and blamed it on the other moving company. I want a $300 refund.

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to mediate disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
