Homeowner and Spring Hill heating and A/C contractor disagree on source of airflow problem

Member Complaint

I hired Central Cooling & Heating of Spring Hill, Florida, to clear out my exterior drain pipe and replace my ductwork. An employee examined the system and said it would cost $2,400 for the ductwork.

They did the work and said they changed the airflow so it flowed evenly throughout the house.

When a storm came through, I heard a noise and felt a change in the airflow. I informed the company that the air wasn’t blowing and water was coming out of the drain pipe in the garage. A worker checked it and said the main trunk line came off the air handler, causing my A/C unit to run constantly. He fixed it while I wasn’t home.

Later, I noticed that no air was coming from the vent by the front door. I called again, and was told the owner would contact me. He never did.

I want a $2,510 refund, because the work was done incorrectly.

Provider Response

The member hired Central Cooling to replace the original ductwork, equalize airflow throughout the home and relocate her thermostat. This service was completed.

The member notified us that the airflow was inadequate at one of the registers. During the service call, we noticed that the supply duct came loose. We repaired it and recommended a new system because of the equipment’s age and condition.

The customer has had the equipment replaced by another company, along with other changes to the designed duct system. Central Cooling strives to provide excellent customer service to our community.

Have a complaint?

Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
