Historic home and stable get new paint
The last remaining stable in Somerville, Massachusetts, stands adjacent to Angie’s List members John and JoAnn Murray’s 1873 Victorian home.
“We take great pride in keeping this previous piece of Somerville history intact and will continue to do this,” says John. This is what guided their decision to have highly rated Netto’s Painting & Carpentry in Everett, Massachusetts, paint the house and stable.
“Our home has a historic designation, so we were firm in our decision to match the identical colors,” John says. “JoAnn researched house colors in Cambridge [Massachusetts] and Somerville built around the same time.”
In addition to the painting, Netto’s stripped and replaced the shingles on one side of the house, replaced a wooden gutter and the back steps and performed other small carpentry jobs.
John says they replaced the back stairs at no additional charge. Everyone who has seen the house comments favorably, including the neighbors, John adds.
“JoAnn grew up in this house and her 86-year-old father lives with us,” John says. “He has lived here since 1953 and has taken fantastic care of this home. We plan to continue this care.”
John says owner Aderlon Netto and his brother, Bruno, were respectful and meticulous throughout the job, cleaning up every night and periodically checking in to make sure he was happy with their work.
“My wife and I were very satisfied,” John says. “I would strongly recommend Netto’s Painting & Carpentry. It’s great to hire a contractor who has strong character and is very professional and honest.”
