Have a handyman hang level photo frames
If you find the prospect of decorating your walls with artwork, heirlooms or family photos an attractive option but are intimidated by the prospect of aligning them all or, worse, damaging your walls, consider hiring a Los Angeles handyman to take on the job.
An experienced handyman will have the skills and the tools to make sure your decorative wall items are straight and secure. Take note of the process. Maybe next time, you can borrow a few tips and handle the task yourself.
In accomplishing this mission, a handyman will likely:
- Assess your walls and decorative items and help you envision the final result.
- Use a tape measure, stud finder, hammer, drill, screwdriver, assorted picture frame hangers and anchors, chalk lines and levels.
- After asking you a few questions about your preferences, he or she will likely arrange your portraits on the floor in front of the wall.
The handyman will then take measurements the wall, not once, but twice, and jot down the numbers before making a simple calculation: width of the wall divided by two. This gives the exact center point on the wall.
The next step likely involves marking the wall at eye level, and measuring once more just to make sure numbers are correct. Using the proper anchor, the handyman will then hang your first artwork.
The next frame will need to be measured from the distance of the hanging hardware to the top of the frame (about ½ inch). Then add about 3 inches for spacing, measure the wall once more, divide by two and mark the intersecting point on the wall just below the first piece. The next piece is ready to hang in its proper place.
The process continues until finally, your entire collection of artwork is situated straight and proportionately on the wall.
