Harriman deck contractor refunds deposit for delayed project
I hired Deckscapes of Harriman, New York, to build a deck.
I provided all the papers the contractor required along with a $650 deposit. The contractor told me he would have the necessary permit and begin the job in September. A month later, the work has not been done and he has not responded to my calls or emails.
I called the building inspector to follow up on the permits and was told the contractor did not submit any paperwork or contact him to get a building permit. It’s apparent that this contractor took my deposit money while never intending to do the job. I want a full refund.

It was never my intention to not move forward with this deck project. Even after 25-plus years in business, it is difficult to accurately predict work flow and start dates for projects two to three months into the future. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
