Handyman hammers out homeowner's to-do list
With a growing to-do list and uncertainty on how to tackle the projects, Orlando, Florida, member Barb Watts searched Angie’s List for highly rated handymen and contractors before hiring Steve Farris Handyman of Casselberry, Florida.
“Steve’s description was the only one I read that listed every one of the types of projects I needed to be done,” Watts says. “Once he came to my home, looked everything over, made suggestions and showed me photographs of similar work he had completed, I knew this was someone I could trust to do a good job and be the kind of person I would be comfortable having on my property for weeks.”
Watts appreciated that Harris never pushed the higher cost alternative. She says he just talked about the differences in what she would be getting at what cost.
The long punch list included replacing the side gable of the house with cement board and trim, building a small deck, replacing hardware on the doors of the pool screen enclosure, replacing two screens on the enclosure, installing an exterior security light, sanding and sealing the front door, and painting the home’s exterior.
“It is amazing how many skills Steve has,” Watts says.
Her favorite parts of the job are the woodwork and the paint color Farris suggested for her home, which highlights the brick and improves the overall look of the house.
“I relied on Steve for his very good color sense,” she says. “He picked the perfect color for my house. My neighbors are impressed!”
That’s no lie. Watts says neighbors have already started asking her for Steve’s contact information.
