Handyman accused of failing to apply discount coupon

COMPLAINT: Mark Rudd, Carmel, Ind.

"I needed to replace a dripping spigot. I found Handyman Services through a coupon flier.

"[Rob Middleton, the owner] came and quoted me twice as much as a plumber, but he said all the things I wanted to hear about why it'd be more expensive for him to do the work.

"He quoted $540, which included everything being insured and bonded. My wife told him she had a $75 coupon, which he said wasn't a problem.

"He ended up adding the $75 to the $540 cost and then took it off, but he told us he'd make sure we'd get the $75 back even if it had to come from his paycheck.

"He did do a good job and cleaned up his mess. I ended up calling him three or four times in order to get our $75 back, but he hasn't once picked up."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want the $75 and an apology."

STATUS: Penalty Box
