Gutters replaced by painters spring leak

Gutter guff

COMPLAINT: Rita Danner, Cheektowaga, N.Y.

"I hired A Quality Home Care to tear off and replace my gutters with new ones. Instead of sending gutter workers, they sent painters. They cut up the gutters and nailed them. They tried to goop or cement the holes where they were leaking.

"The workers have come out at least eight times, and the gutters still leak. In some spots, water pours out. They promised they'll come but never show, and they're now avoiding my calls. They charged me $1,200. Then they said I owed an additional $300 for a 1-foot long piece of facia board, which they pulled off."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to correct the leaks and honor their contract to make the job perfect, or I want my $1,500 refunded."

STATUS: Penalty Box

Sass about glass

COMPLAINT: Victor Silveri, Getzville, N.Y.

"I purchased a sunroom from Four Seasons Sunrooms 16 years ago. Since then, I had to replace nine of the glass panels under the warranty because of defective seals, causing moisture condensation. This cost me an additional $826, and now I need four more items replaced.

"They said they'll replace the defective glass panels under the warranty terms, but won't cover the installation as I requested. I'm tired of paying for shipping and installation charges for their sale of a defective product."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a one-time, no-charge replacement of my defective glass panels from Four Seasons including labor."

RESPONSE: Brian Fabian, vice president, Four Seasons Sunrooms

"We're happy to service his sunroom as detailed in his warranty."

STATUS: Stalemate
