Greensboro wedding planners talk about event planning

As a wedding coordinator, what are some of your job duties?

Cara Zuehlke: "Choosing vendors, designing the event - pretty much everything to do with a wedding, from invitations to the reception."

Julia Denton: "Complete planning can be helping find the dress to the last song. Same-day coordinating is more about direction, keeping everything on time."

Samantha Slapnik: "Our job duties include being a secretary, nurse, babysitter, psychiatrist and accountant - absolutely everything the entire day of the wedding."

How do you charge for your services and what's the cost?

Cara Zuehlke: "An average wedding is between $5,000 and $7,000, but it all depends on the event. We base our fees on a percentage of their budget."

Julia Denton: "We charge according to the number of guests and have a flat fee. Complete planning is a percentage of the budget."

Samantha Slapnik: "We have two levels at a flat fee: basic consulting for $75, and wedding-weekend direction for $900. Full-service starts at $2,000."

Do you personally attend every wedding and rehearsal? If so, is there an extra fee for this?

Cara Zuehlke: "Yes, I like to keep control and make sure everything is going smoothly. All fees are included."

Julia Denton: "Absolutely. There is no extra fee for this or for additional phone and e-mail consultations."

Samantha Slapnik: "Yes. I have two children, but Emma Grace is my baby. It's important to me to be there to the end."

If you become unavailable on the big day, do you have a backup?

Cara Zuehlke: "It's never happened, but I actually have a friend in the business nearby, just in case."

Julia Denton: "Yes, but I've had major surgery the week before and still didn't miss the wedding."

Samantha Slapnik: "Something close to death would have to happen to make me miss a wedding, but we have certified assistants."

What makes your service stand out from what other wedding planners offer?

Cara Zuehlke: "Our level of service really amazes everyone. Our brides and vendors say we go above and beyond. I stay until the end, regardless of the time. I'm in it for the long haul."

Julia Denton: "I bring a fresh perspective because I've only been doing this for a few years. I can do a variety of weddings, and I'm really good at working with a budget."

Samantha Slapnik: "We're fun and realistic. You have to be a mother and keep on them about budget and time, but we want to make sure families have a good time."
