Garage door company opens up about great service
"The hardest thing about working with this company was trying to hire them," says Dave Fulton of Indianapolis. Last year, his garage door opener started malfunctioning intermittently. He called Ed Kikendall Jr. at E & E Garage Doors expecting a service call and a bill, but says he got something unexpected: stellar service. "When I called, he kept telling me how to fix the problem myself," Fulton says, adding that Ed Jr. even stopped by — at no charge — to help reprogram the opener. "It's rare to find a contractor who has that kind of customer service," he says.
E & E's reputation for great service started 25 years ago when Ed Kikendall Sr. saw the opportunity to do something he thought his employer, a large-scale garage door company, couldn't. "He felt he could do the job better," Ed Jr. says. He adds that his father quickly recognized the value of making every customer interaction an A-rated experience, especially Angie's List members. "We strive to be as close to perfect as we can with the reviews," Ed Jr. says.
Members like Kenneth and Mary Zabriskie of Indianapolis say the company's rave reviews are well deserved. They initially hired E & E to replace a just out-of-warranty set of door springs. A year after the service call, Ed Jr. called the couple to inform them he wanted to install new springs at no cost. He had successfully negotiated with the manufacturer to cover the costs. "We were both surprised and pleased to discover that he hadn't let the issue go," the Zabriskies say.
"We're only interested in giving customers the best value and something we can stand behind," Ed Jr. says.
