Fungi no match for Portland siding contractor
Portland, Ore., member Jean Shepherd recently hired Michael Lex Construction, also of Portland, to replace siding on one side of her home. Owner Michael Lex and his crew first had to remove the old siding, which had mushrooms growing from it.
Here’s what Shepherd had to say about the experience:
They tore off damaged siding from one side of house, inspected and assessed the underlayment, installed a new moisture barrier and insulation, primed siding and caulked and repainted the entire side and contrasting trim.
Mike got back to me within a day of my initial contact and came over and did a thorough assessment of not just the main affected side, but the rest of the house as well.
He was the only contractor of four who didn’t try to sell me on a siding that might be great quality, but that would totally contrast with the rest of the house. He respected the old farmhouse feel of my home. I was prepared to have to wait a month or two, but when he had a cancellation just a week or so after our initial contact, he was able to work me in.
He and his crew were thorough, efficient and left the back deck and yard spotless. He is also a personal delight. I look forward to getting one other side done, and — much more fun — my deck rebuilt by Mike at some point!
