Fort Lauderdale homeowner, company patch up lawn problems
I hired Hulett Environmental Services in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to rid my lawn of pests and weeds, which they promised they could do. I have paid them $469 to treat my entire yard on a regular basis.
After several months of treatments, I called to find out why brown spots had appeared in my yard and foot-tall weeds were growing in the mulched areas. The regional manager eventually called me back and said the company was not licensed to treat mulched areas. He offered me a deal so I would continue my service.
One technician who came to my house said the brown spots were the result of too much watering, and the next time he came, he said they were the result of too little watering. Then he said grubs were causing the spots.
When I let my service expire, a manager came to my home and said he would take a sample of the brown spots to the company’s lab to test it. He said he wished he had known about my problem sooner.
The company always operated professionally, but my yard is in worse shape than before I hired them. I want a full refund or for them to take care of the weeds and brown spots.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
