Flooring company ignores Columbus durability complaint

COMPLAINT: Alice Williamson, Delaware, Ohio

I purchased more than 900 square feet of half-inch thick hardwood laminate flooring from ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings for installation throughout the top level of my home. When I purchased the wood, I reiterated to Damon McAnelly, the manager, that I have two big dogs and felt concerned about the quality of the material. He assured me it would hold up.

After the installation in the dining room, there were scratches — some as long as 18 inches — all over the floor by the dogs' water bowls. My contractor agreed the scratches seemed excessive and stopped working. We went to ProSource to file a claim and called three times to find out if a representative would come out to look at my floor, but we received no response.

Because my home was down to subfloors and it was dangerous to me and my dogs, I had the contractor continue installing the floor I had purchased from ProSource. I have dogs, not dinosaurs with talons doing the jitterbug in my home! To illustrate the point to our neighbor, my boyfriend dropped a Zippo lighter onto an extra wood plank and sure enough, it dented. I can't even imagine what a pan or even a laundry basket would do.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: I would like my money back.

STATUS: Penalty Box
