Finished basement includes full bathroom, gas fireplace
Angie’s List members Dinesh and Nicole Bahadursingh of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, bought their home in 2011 with the intention of eventually hiring someone to finish the basement. Recently, they decided to move forward with the project.
The couple consulted the List and found five companies to provide quotes. In the end, they hired highly rated Lomar Contracting in Brooklyn, Maryland, to complete the work. “Roderick [Lopez, owner] seemed most eager to work with our ideas rather than present his own ideas,” Dinesh says.
The finished basement project included a full bathroom addition, a sewage pump and a natural gas fireplace. Lomar Contracting charged $24,500 for the work.
Dinesh adds that with a young son, it’s useful to have the extra finished space in the basement. “The open floor plan is great, and having a full bath down there is very convenient,” he says.
Besides the final project, Dinesh’s other favorite part of the job was working with the crew at Lomar Contracting.
“Roderick and his guys were extremely easy to work with,” he says. “They asked if they could work weekends, and I believe they worked every day for about five weeks straight. We were limited by our budget, and Roderick really worked with us to make sure that we were happy with the final product.”
