Failure to respond lands North Port driveway contractor in Penalty Box
I hired West Coast Surface of North Port, Fla., to resurface my stamped concrete driveway at a cost of $4,000. Less than six months later, several small areas started to peel. The owner came by to assess the situation, but afterward, the driveway continued to peel. He didn’t answer my calls again until months later, when he stripped, repainted and resealed the driveway, but within a few months it started peeling again. He told me he would submit a claim to the manufacturer, but I never heard from them. I began to ask for a partial refund, but he did not respond to several emails and phone calls. On my last contact with him, he told me his insurance company would contact me. However, the insurance agent told me workmanship and product issues were not covered. I sent the owner numerous photos of the badly deteriorating driveway, but I never heard back. I spent $4,000 on a driveway that should have lasted several years, but started deteriorating only six months later. I would like a refund of half what I paid, $2,000.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to mediate disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
