The Experts Contributor Program is THE article contributor network for highly rated companies. Companies share articles that are published on AngiesList.com. Website visitors get great information from knowledgable professionals and companies that share articles get more exposure with Angie’s List.
No. Sharing articles is free. And if your article is published, we’ll even help promote your article through these channels by mentioning and/or linking to social media accounts such as Twitter or Google Plus.
- Brand exposure: By sharing articles, you can promote your company's in-depth expertise and experience to the AngiesList.com audience.
- Content marketing and search engine optimization (SEO): If you’re already using advertising, website or social media efforts, supplement your efforts with this free content marketing channel. If you and your articles qualify, we can link to your company’s social media accounts and/or possibly your company website.
- An open-ended commitment: Contribute as many or as few consumer-focused articles as you prefer – there is no minimum commitment and no limit to how many articles you can share.
- Feedback from experienced consumer editors and publishers: Angie’s List has been creating articles and information with consumers in mind for almost 20 years, so if you’re not sure where to start or what to write about, Experts’ online editors are more than happy to help.
Articles should focus on providing the reader relevant information based on your professional experience and expertise. Articles that focus on promoting a particular service, product or company and other forms of salesmanship are usually rejected by the editors. Angie's List website vistiors and readers insist on high-quality information from experienced professionals with on-the-job know-how, not a sales pitch.
Yes. If the article in question does not meet the criteria required for publication, does not meet editorial standards, or is submitted by a provider that is not highly rated, the article will not be published. However, editors may reach out to you regarding your article with tips or suggestions to help it meet Angie’s List standards.
If you’re a first-time contributor, it can take 2-6 weeks (and sometimes more) for an article to be vetted, edited and published. Articles submitted during peak submission times, such as during contests, typically take longer to publish due to backlog. Regular article contributors’ articles are typically posted in 1-2 weeks. Due to these timelines, we recommend you avoid exclusively seasonal or very short-term topics (e.g., “Leaves are now on the ground, so rake them...” or “Since last week’s snowstorm…”).
Articles appear throughout the AngiesList.com site including the Experts articles homepage at www.angieslist.com/experts, the main articles page at www.angieslist.com/articles and many other places. Depending on the topic, articles can potentially appear in dozens of locations across the Angieslist.com website.
How do I get my article to appear in the printed Angie’s List Magazine?
Magazine editors regularly select a few high-quality Experts articles to appear in Angie’s List Magazine. Submitting your article to be published online via Experts is the only way to be considered for an appearance in print.
We’re holding a contest to look for great consumer information and we're providing $1,000, $500 and $250 prizes for the best articles. Each qualified contributor can submit up to five (5) 300- to 800-word articles. Judges from the Angie’s List Newsroom editorial staff will evaluate article submissions based on creativity, originality and quality of consumer information, and select a grand prize winner ($1,000), a runner-up winner ($500) and a second runner-up winner ($250) . Read the full rules here.
The judging panel evaluates each article on the basis of originality, quality of information for consumers and quality of writing. The article or articles that best represent these qualities wins. Read the full rules here.
The company contributing the article must be registered and highly rated on Angie’s List. Article(s) must be between 300 and 800 words and previously submitted articles will not be considered. Contributor should be the original author or the copyright owner of the content submitted. Read the full rules here.
You can contribute as frequently, or infrequently, as you prefer. During contest periods, you can submit up to five (5) articles for contest consideration. If you’re interested in contributing articles on a regular basis, think about sharing at least one (1) article a month. That gives the editors plenty of time to post your content and provides you, the author, with time to create high-quality articles. Contact us for more details.
The author's name and company affilaition appear promientnly in the article byline at the top of the article; an author photo and author or company biography explaning your expertise or background appears at the bottom of each article; and finally, the author or company biography section contains links to your company's contact information as it appears on Angie's List, as well as links to the author or company's Twitter or Google Plus accounts, if available.
We highly encourage Experts contributors to share the links to articles on their websites, emails and social media. When sharing via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) you can use the #ALExperts hashtag. We’ll help you promote the article through those outlets as well – keep an eye on Angie’s List social media accounts. You may see your article show up!
Sure thing! We’re overflowing with article ideas that Angie’s List consumers are craving. Simply shoot us an email and we’ll be happy to help you formulate some ideas that will showcase your expertise and meet the needs of consumers.
No. Previously submitted articles (including those submitted during previous contest periods or regular submissions) will not be considered for the current article contest. Read the full rules here.
When your article is published, an Experts editor will email you at the address you provided with the link to the article. Please review the article and let us know if you see the need for any changes, corrections or updates. For more information about your article or inquire about its publication status, contact us.
We are always seeking out regular contributors to provide regular content to Experts. We also have a monthly Chat with the Experts podcast in which highly rated providers share their knowledge and stories. If you’re interested in providing an article each month and becoming a trusted regular name at AngiesList.com let us know!
