COMPLAINT: Bradley Collins, Chicago
"I asked NorthStar Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. to fix a non-emergency water overflow problem with my boiler.
"I described the boiler's make and the problem in detail, but when the serviceman arrived, he didn't have any of that information.
"He didn't know what to do and after calling headquarters, he said he didn't have the right parts.
"He monkeyed around with the boiler a little more, even though I didn't ask him to. Then he said he'd have someone from the company come out the next day with the right parts.
"After waiting all day, my wife called the office. 'Oh, yeah,' he told her, 'We can't fix that.' There were no explanations, no apologies.
"We figured that was the last of that and called another company to work on the boiler. A couple months later, we were shocked to get a bill [from NorthStar] for $166.
"They didn't do anything that night, and couldn't or wouldn't do anything subsequently. We called the office several times and they told us they'd take care of the invoice.
"We didn't hear anything for a few months until another invoice showed up."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want NorthStar to drop their charge since they didn't perform any service."
