Electrician allegedly leaves Columbus homeowner with no phone
COMPLAINT: Ted and Wendy Manning, Ostrander, Ohio
"We hired Bell Electric Co. Inc. to install new electrical service for a home business in a new building on our farm. In the process of digging the trench, the electrician cut through our telephone line twice, our electric to our well pump and our sump pump discharge pipe.
"He also busted two posts to our horse fence. We have not been able to use our home telephone for months now. We also have no water in our home, since the breaker keeps flipping because of a bad splice. Then the Delaware County inspector failed the work due to obvious mistakes.
"Once the service was finished, Bell Electric gave me a bill for $7,000 without warning, although they quoted us $3,300. We later found out that the electrician no longer works for the company. We were told he stole our funds, showing our invoice as open and due.
"We were also told Bell's insurance company would be in contact with us to not only help with a refund but also with the damage that was caused. We haven't heard from anyone and are owed money and repairs.
"Since then, we have had to pay someone else to attempt to fix our water, with no luck, and have paid for our posts."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "We want Bell Electric to repair the damages to our well pump electric line, our telephone line and our sump pump discharge line.
"We also want them to pay for the cost of the horse fence posts they snapped off, and we paid for. Lastly, we want them to honor our original quote and refund the amount we overpaid ($3,700)."
