East St. Louis waste management issues refund after unnecessary charge
I ordered a 40-yard dumpster online for a demo project.
Waste Management of East St. Louis, Ill., showed up unannounced a week later to remove the dumpster. I told the driver that it wasn’t due to be picked up for three more weeks. He was nice and left.
When I completed my project, I called back to have the dumpster removed. They did so promptly.
Many weeks later, I received a bill stating my balance was past due. I contacted them and was told there was an overweight charge and $10 a day charge for each day past a week. Although I feel like this should have been disclosed upfront, I can accept those charges. My main issue is that they charged me $150 for the first trip they made to pick up the dumpster.
I explained to the representative that I had my dumpster set up for a month service, and was told that someone had forgotten to note that on the account. They said they couldn’t do anything about the charge.
I would like that $150 refunded.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
