Dryer vent has no lint thanks to Chicago tech
Deborah Pociecha gives owner John Brown top grades for replacing dryer vents beneath her enclosed porch.
"My new dryer was taking too long to dry my laundry, and I noticed no air was coming from the outside vent," Pociecha says. "The dryer venting wasn't up to code and clogged with lint. John replaced the venting and took the time to make sure the dryer was working properly and shared valuable information about my dryer and its venting."
Nancy Engel feels Gotcha covered the whole spectrum when selecting and installing window treatments to match the room color and soften echoes.
"I got three estimates, all with similar prices, but [owner] Randy Detert was the most pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic of the bunch," Engel says. "Randy was able to explain the different models that would help with deadening sound and gently guided me to a better color choice."
Susannah Boullon gives Toptec top marks for not only installing a high efficiency furnace, but repairing other sources of heat loss and identifying the cause of her recurring headaches.
"They discovered a gas leak and unsealed ductwork, which allowed insulation and other air pollutants to be pumped through the house," she says. "Ever since their work, the headaches have stopped."
Jennifer Chen breathes easier knowing JMS checked out an older house for lead and asbestos.
"Their analysis and reporting were very thorough," Chen says. "I received results within two business days. It gave me peace of mind about taking care of an older home. I've only purchased new construction before, and the house I was considering is the exact opposite, so the environmental concerns were new to me."

Eric Podlogar turned to Turf for help with an arborial outbreak. "Several of my trees were being attacked and compromised by things beyond my knowledge — bugs, mold and disease," Podlogar says. "They treated the trees and provided consultation services for the rest of the yard. I've come to appreciate the breadth of their knowledge and experience. I haven't stumped them yet."
Steven Rogers took a shine to AAA for applying strong UV and sunlight protection to his windows.
"They're energetic and believe with a passion in their product," Rogers says. "The tinted film doesn't diminish clarity looking outside, and the reflective property is so good during the day, you can't see into the house from outside."
The extensive work installing hardwood floors and ceramic tile flooring so impressed Thomas Hurd that he extended his job to include window casings, doors, carpeting and painting. "I was planning laminate rather than hardwood, but owner Mike Calame suggested oak, which offered much more in the way of durability and ambience," Hurd says. "The installers did a fantastic job on everything, so I added all the other work I wanted done."
Mare Swallow appreciated Rufino's professionalism and experience touching up painting and recaulking windows. "My house is new construction, so there were some inherent problems, like the original crappy caulk job," Swallow says. "Raul Rufino clearly knew what he was talking about. When he gave the estimate, he gave me tips on how to prime the walls, just in case I didn't hire him. I did, and his crew did a great job."
