COMPLAINT: Sylvia Pollack, Seattle
"NW By NE Carpentry & Handyman Services installed a screen door.
"When Joshua Koren, the owner, came to look at the job and give me a bid, I pointed out that the door I had bought might not be the right size. He looked at it, made measurements, and assured me he could "make it fit."
"He dropped tools on the freshly painted porch, which now has gouges in it. He pried off part of the door frame, cut it down and put it back. It now is a splintered mess.
"He hung the door, but there is a large gap on three sides, so the whole purpose of having a screen door is moot. I now have to buy another door and am hiring someone else to install it and repair the damage."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the door, $87.59, and labor."
COMPANY RESPONSE: Joshua Koren, owner, NW By NE Carpentry & Handyman Services
"The door frame was not the original, since it had been added on. I offered to install new door casing, which would have fixed the gaps, but the member said no.
"I was not using heavy tools, which would have caused damage to the porch, which she told me was painted two years ago.
"In my business, customer satisfaction is extremely important, therefore I will reimburse her for the door and labor."
