Dispute erupts over Palos Heights plumbing costs

COMPLAINT: Grace Schaar, Palos Heights, Ill.

"I hired Yes! Plumbing to deal with a plumbing problem. It took about 15 minutes to correct the problem. The workman removed the trap and put a new one in.

"My issue: Three other plumbers have stated that the work would run between $85 and $115. I paid $488. Also, he drove his truck up on my driveway, which cracked the concrete."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a refund of $350."

"I have personally investigated this case and have determined the following: The client reported tech time as 15 minutes. The GPS truck-tracking system contradicts this, showing 45 minutes travel and one hour and 30 minutes in the home.

"Regarding the cracked driveway, our service manager made a personal visit to the property and took pictures of previous patches and old debris in the 'new' cracks, disproving this claim.

"The proper job code and price were selected from our up-front price guide. A review of the contract documents shows all procedures were followed correctly:

a) Prior to start of work, client's signature acknowledged cost for work;
b) Prior to start of work, client was informed of and waived in writing three-day right of recession;
c) Client received and signed for required State Attorney's brochure; and
d) Client signed for satisfactory completion of the work.

"Conclusion: The client has no basis for complaint."

Never responded to Kalajine Anigbogu's request to fix a noise problem with her refrigerator that she says started after the company handled another problem with the unit.
