COMPLAINT: Christopher Goulart, Macomb
"I met with the Macomb Rock Tops to examine samples of countertop styles of granite for possible installation in my home. I indicated that the installation would be approximately 100 square feet of material divided between three bathrooms and a kitchen.
Based on my estimates, they quoted me a price of $4,500 for installing the stone. I agreed to have my credit checked to see if I would qualify for a line of credit.
At no time did I give the indication that I was agreeing to purchase the job, rather I explained I was interested in a full estimate, to be conducted by a representative of their organization based upon the $4,500 figure initially provided.
Further, they told me to sign a number of papers they indicated were a routine matter. They not only obtained the credit issuance, but charged the full amount to the new line of credit.
No product has been ordered and no measurements have been taken in my home. This organization strong-armed me and is being thoroughly unreasonable."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I simply want the company to refund the $4,500 sale amount back to the new credit account they opened without my permission."
Rock Tops credited Goulart's account with the requested amount.
