When searching for a good contractor, do not rely on Denver BBB accreditation as an accurate gauge of the company's quality. I recently filed a complaint with the BBB when a contractor I hired in 2007 wouldn't respond to my request for warranty service. In the course of the complaint, the contractor lied about the service I received and his company's actions to provide the appropriate customer service and warranty repair. I purposely dragged out the complaint to force the contractor to put his own words on record and show how poorly he ran his business, and even pointed out to the BBB which of its standards and values he violated. As the complaint progressed, at one point I requested a phone conversation with the resolution specialist assigned to the case, leaving two voice mails, for which I received no response. It took an e-mail to the director to the BBB, in which I accused the BBB of being no more than a paid advertisement, before I got a phone call back. Although I definitively proved that the contractor doesn't have the faintest clue about customer service, basic business administration, or adherence to the standards and values of the BBB, the BBB would not revoke his membership and stood by him. In fact, his BBB rating went up to an A+, even though he has only resolved 2 out of 7 complaints against him. The entire story is way too long to describe here, but I will be happy to share it with anyone in the Denver area who is interested.
