Defective garage door frame causes disagreement

COMPLAINT: William Coble, Lithonia, Ga.

"I hired D & J Garage Door Repair of Stone Mountain [Ga.] to install a new garage door and opener. When they began the work, they found more wood needed replacement. They completed the job and everything worked fine. About four weeks later, the framing warped and separated from the opening.

"They put in more screws to hold it in place, but the framing continued to separate. They wanted their manufacturing representative to take a look since they felt the wood was defective, and the representative agreed it was. They received another piece on order, but they have not done the replacement."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a $200 refund for warranty work they did not complete."

RESPONSE: Jamie Hilley, owner, D & J Garage Door Repair

"The manufacturer informed us that we should allow the existing board to air dry for two months before we came back to do the replacement. At that time, the office called the member numerous times to schedule an appointment.

"Our position remains the same, as we would be more than happy to complete the repair as soon as the member contacts us."

STATUS: Stalemate

Editor's Note: Coble told Angie's List he would prefer to sever all ties with the company.
