Deerfield Beach contractor cashed checks but didn’t finish work, homeowner says
I hired Rosenbaum Construction in Deerfield Beach, Florida, to scrape and paint the kitchen ceiling and to patch certain areas on my porch. Jim McCommon, whose business card calls him the company’s president of marketing and sales, was supposed to arrive at 8 a.m., but he showed up at 9:30 a.m. instead.
I paid him $100 in cash for materials. I paid him $290 in checks, which he cashed right away, for his labor.
McCommon didn’t finish the job, so he said he would come back the following Saturday to tie up loose ends. But he never showed up. He still hasn’t answered or returned any of my calls and three voice mails.
I want him to finish the job.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
