Dallas house cleaning service accused of failing to show
COMPLAINT: Sheree Sutton, Euless, Texas
"Home Cleaning Angels performed a big spring cleaning on my house. They charged $200, and I tipped $100. I called HCA again for a maintenance cleaning, and they didn't show up.
"When Pearl [Thornton, the owner] finally called, I told her I had already cleaned, and she said she'd clean it next time for half price.
"I scheduled HCA again for a maintenance cleaning. Upon returning from out of town, I discovered the house had not been cleaned, there were still dust, webs and dirty baseboards.
"This time, they charged $80, and I tipped $10; this was supposed to be half price! When I called Pearl, she said she knew the house hadn't been cleaned!
"She made several excuses as to why, one being that after they clean ceiling fans, dust settles on the baseboards. She said she'd be back out and reclean at no charge. HCA didn't show up or call.
"I further discovered that whatever they used to clean my upstairs toilet was growing green mold. I contacted Pearl to report this, and she denied she scheduled a return appointment."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I believe reimbursement of the $90, my bill plus tip, is the resolution."
RESPONSE: Pearl Thornton, Home Cleaning Angels
"When she called for another cleaning, I didn't set a scheduled time. I said I'd call back because I was driving. I forgot to. When I called three days later, I said I'd give her a discount and did. It was $90 instead of $250. I strive to please everyone who calls for my service."
Editor's Note: Sutton informed Angie's List she received the requested refund.
