Dallas-area mechanics keep cars rolling
Whether you live in Dallas, Fort Worth or the surrounding suburbs, you’re looking for great service, especially with service and maintenance of your car.
Here’s the latest Posts of Happiness for great service from Dallas-area auto repair shops as selected by the Angie’s List Newsroom staff.
Acute Auto Care Lewisville, Texas
When Cindy Rachel took her 2008 Honda Civic in for work, she feared the worst. “I found myself needing a jump two times in the last two weeks, even though I have a new battery,” she says. “I figured it might be the alternator and said as much when I got to Acute Car Care.
They were very patient with me while I went on about my frustrations with my car. He said that there’s issue with Hondas and the A/C compressor relay and if that was the problem it will be a lot less money than replacing an alternator.
I joked and said I never have that kind of luck. Well, this time I did have that kind of luck because that’s exactly what the problem was. They could’ve easily have told me, ‘Yep, it’s the alternator,’ and I wouldn’t have known any different.
I got my car worked on and back the same day. I’ll absolutely use them again.”
Edd’s Towing and Recovery, Keller, Texas
When Blair Walker’s truck wouldn’t start, he turned to his go-to towing company. “The engine just wouldn’t fire,” he says. “I’ve been in this position before, so I wasn’t going to be that guy just standing there with my hood open and just looking at an engine. What could I really do without any tools?
A few minutes later the call was made, and their dispatcher had a wrecker rolling my way. They got there pretty quick considering all the construction they had to drive through to get to me.
Their pro driver got my truck loaded up on the wrecker, and I climbed into the cab of their super clean truck and away we went to the shop. A fuel pump just gave up on my truck.
I’m glad I made the call to Edd’s before wasting a bunch of time fooling around thinking I may have been able to fix anything myself at a gas station. All the cars and trucks in my family have over 100,000 miles on them. I’m sure we will get a chance to use them in the future.”
Love Field Auto, Dallas
Love Field Auto saved Leonard Simpson Jr. $500 when he took his car in for a second opinion after the local dealer gave a high estimate for repairs after his check engine light lit up.
“They said that I needed a rear catalytic converter and a pump for my power steering,” he says. “I brought the car to Randy Newbury for a second opinion, and he said the catalytic converter did need to be replaced but didn’t think I needed the pump replaced. He said that he’d replace a 59-cent O-ring because that’s a known issue with Hondas and Acuras. Well, the 59-cent part worked!
Randy is the most honest person in the business. He’s saved me tons of money over the past five years I’ve been going to him.
Ken’s Muffler & Brake, Bachman Lake
Mark Geisler drove his BMW over a concrete parking curb, cracking the exhaust and avoided repairs. “It caused the car to make a terrible noise,” he says. “Since I have another car, I drove it for months afraid to take my BMW in for expensive service.
I finally decided to talk to my mechanic, and he recommended I take it to Ken’s Muffler. They were able to weld the crack and get me back on the road, saving me hundreds of dollars in repair bills. I’ve continued to take my other vehicles to Ken’s and recommend to all my friends.”
About Posts of Happiness
At Angie’s List, we regularly hear from members who are ecstatic about outstanding service received from the companies they’ve hired. We think such great service deserves recognition, which is why we feature Posts of Happiness.
We ask our members for nominations when they rate companies with A’s in every category. To qualify, a review must be at least 500 characters about a company’s actual work (not just an estimate) and members need to assure us that they’d hire again.
After a nomination, our staff selects the most outstanding stories to feature. If we choose your nomination, your review will appear in our monthly magazine and even right here on our website.
