Customer seeks resolution from alleged moving damage

COMPLAINT: Janet Koenig, Westlake Village, Calif.

"I hired Best Move of Newbury Park to move my son and daughter-in-law. They didn't wrap the furniture properly, thus a lot of it was damaged and scratched. The move took 14 hours, more than the eight hours we anticipated it would take. They also dinged the new walls. They sent a handyman to try to fix it. He put putty over them, but you can still see them. The paint they used also didn't match the walls.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: For Best Move to hire a professional to repair and repaint the stairwell and other paint damage, as well as a refund.

"There was no prior estimate on this job so it was billed hourly, and it took 14 hours. We dispute that any furniture was padded incorrectly. We sent a man on five occasions to try and make them happy. Most of the complaints were for either specious or minimal problems, but we attempted to address them. We are still willing to touch up the small patches on the wall if the customer will provide the correct color, and we will even purchase the paint. We feel that's the limit of our liability."
