Customer frustrated after Los Angeles move
COMPLAINT: Javier Oritz, Fairfax, Va.
"I e-mailed an itemized list of articles for a three-bedroom house. They estimated 61 boxes, or 121 total items. It sounded reasonable.
"To make sure this was an accurate estimate, I asked if anyone needed to come to the house to confirm it, and they said "no."
"They estimated 1,063 cubic feet and never came to do a survey of the furniture until the day of the move, telling me it would all fit and they would get it done in about five hours.
"After loading the truck, however, they said there was more than they had thought. It was more than 2,000 cubic feet, and they gave me a new estimate of $7,400. They said I could have the truck weighed to pay by weight or take the "cheaper" deal that they were offering.
"The next morning, they called to ask if they could deliver my belongings two weeks later than my requested date. I said "no."
"Although they arrived on time, the foreman said he would charge me if they had to move items more than seven stairs into my dwelling. I had never been told this, so he said he would "waive" that charge.
"The only positive thing I can say is that they wrapped all of my items well."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a partial refund."
