Cosmetic dentisty helps improve more than smiles
Despite its name, cosmetic dentistry adds more than aesthetics to your smile – it can also help improve your dental health. Angie’s List members have taken advantage of several procedures offered by Los Angeles cosmetic dentists.
According to a recent poll, 32 percent of members surveyed admitted they have undergone cosmetic dentistry. The largest majority – 61 percent – worked with their dentists while being fitted for bridges and crowns. Teeth whitening was the second-most popular procedure with 33 percent of responders admitting to wanting a brighter shade. Other procedures members have undergone include veneers, adult braces and enamel shaping and bonding.
Of all members who have undergone cosmetic dentistry procedures, more than 80 percent received a consultation either from their primary care dentist or cosmetic dentist. If thinking about having a procedure yourself, check Angie’s List for up-to-date ratings on highly rated dentists in the Los Angeles area. Sign-in to read member reviews of dentists and recent work performed by some of the thousands of providers on the List.
Not only can the reviews help you get a feel of the dentist you might work with, but they can also give insight as to why members opted for such procedures. According to those polled, 49 percent wanted to improve their appearances, while 34 percent wanted to improve the health of their teeth and gums. Confidence and stopping dental pains were also reasons for members’ cosmetic dentistry.
On average, most members say they spent between $1,000 and $5,000 on their procedures. If you choose to have a consultation with the dentist, ask for a written invoice so you’ll know exactly what the procedure will cost. Many consultations are free, so if you aren’t comfortable with the dentist or price, keep looking until you find someone and something that will fit your needs and your budget.
