Consumer says Vienna remodeler incorrectly installed floor tiles
I hired A United Construction of Vienna, Virginia, to remodel my kitchen. The work on the kitchen floor tiles is unacceptable. The tiles were laid down on a slightly uneven surface, causing air pockets to form between the floor and tile pieces. As a result, the grout cracked in several places, and when I walk on the floor, there is a crackling sound underneath my feet.
I asked the company to fix the problem more than once. They regrouted problem areas twice, but the grout cracked a third time.
They sent a tile specialist who confirmed the tile was laid incorrectly, pointed out the uneven surface and said the company only applied the tile glue on four corners of the tile — not across the entire piece. I asked for them to correct the flooring.

Now, no one will return my phone calls. This has been going on for several months.
I want my tile floor reinstalled correctly.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
