Consumer says Katy contractor performed shoddy balcony work
I hired Complete Home Innovations in Katy, Texas, to extend my patio and build a balcony. The worker framed the balcony to the edge of the concrete and now there’s no room for the posts to be finished. He wanted to charge me to fix it.
He regularly asked for money for his expenses, and I paid for materials. The balcony leaks because he refused to add flashing. He also increased the quote for the tile during construction and refused to provide a warranty unless I paid the new cost.
He never finished the electrical work and became rude when I said I would pay the remaining 8 percent only after a walk-through. During the walk-through, my husband discovered non-working lights, two different trims on the door, non-textured wall, no caulking and a light fixture mounted in different directions on the ceiling.
No one cleaned the pile of rocks and dirt that they dumped in the backyard.
I want owner Steve Gutterud to honor his 10-year warranty and repair the leaks in the patio roof, replace material damaged by leaks, complete electrical work and promptly repair any other issues that might occur later.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
