Consumer says company hired to pressure wash house left job incomplete
I hired Star Painting & Power Washing of Stuart, Florida, for several jobs, including interior and exterior painting, pressure cleaning the house, front porch, sidewalk, driveway pad and patio; repairing cracks; repairing two holes under the eve of the garage; caulking as needed, and sanding and painting kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity.
Owner Joe Russo said the painters would start in two weeks, barring weather delays. Rain delayed the start date, but I expected Joe to call with an adjusted date. He never did.

I called him for a new start date a couple of weeks later. Again, no one arrived on the second date. They arrived on an unscheduled date just as I was leaving.
The paint job on the cabinets was shoddy. They didn’t sand or use primer and spray painted the doors outside in 90-degree weather, which caused the paint to bubble. They didn’t cover the furniture in plastic, and I found paint on my leather couch, computer, desk, printer, TV stand, TV and other places.
The exterior lights on the patio were painted blue to match the old paint on the house, but they painted the base to match the new color of the house. They left the inside of the door edges white instead of painting them red to match the rest of the doors.
They killed the grass where they cleaned their brushes. I’m not sure if sealant was used before exterior painting.
Joe hasn’t returned my calls (at least five) to work out a resolution.
I want a partial refund, preferably 50 percent.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
