Consumer claims Kansas City painting company didn't honor warranty
We hired Rodriguez Painting in Kansas City, Missouri, to paint the exterior of the house, and replace and re-caulk trim and boards.
The painters who showed up to paint the house finished very quickly. Unfortunately, it had rained a day prior to painting, and we had to have them come back out to repaint a few sections that started to bubble almost immediately. But they were quick to take care of this issue and we were pleased with the job. We weren’t too worried about any issues down the road, since the job came with a five-year warranty.
Fast forward 4.5 years. We’re having our basement finished and noticed they didn’t caulk a trim piece. The trim and boards around it were mush. After some difficulty, we were able to get the original painter at Rodriguez Painting to assess the damage. The painter said he remembered caulking that board 4.5 years ago. The estimate on repairs came in around $800, of which the company accepts no fault.
In short, Rodriguez Painting was quick and did the original job at a good price. However, we will not be doing business with them in the future since I cannot trust their warranty or quality of work. We would like the company to replace and re-caulk the damaged exterior trim and boards and repaint the damaged area.

Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
