Consumer and company agree on refund for ballast replacement
I bought an annual service contract with Broward Factory Service of West Palm Beach, Florida. During this time, the fluorescent lights in my bathroom weren’t working properly.
I’m not sure if they replaced both ballasts. I had to call them five times, and the lights still don’t work properly. I called an electrician, who fixed the problem in one visit.
Either the service people are instructed to do the job cheap and improper, or they are incompetent; I can’t tell.
I want a refund of $155 to reimburse me the amount I paid the electrician.

The member purchased a one-year service contract with our company for $199. The contract covers her A/C, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, oven and water heater for covered parts and labor, as well as minor plumbing and electrical work.
We have provided several service calls for her since her purchase of the contract. We weren’t aware her lights weren’t repaired to her satisfaction. She should have called us again and requested a repair.
Broward Factory Service doesn’t cover work done by an outside company, as stated on our contract, or pay for or supply light bulbs. We will reimburse the customer for a portion of the bill.

Editor’s note: The member accepted the company’s counteroffer of a $100 refund.
Have a complaint?
Our Angie’s List complaint resolution team attempts to resolve disputes between members and service providers. During this process, three outcomes can happen: Penalty Box, Resolved or Stalemate. Companies that don’t respond to a member’s complaint will be placed in the Penalty Box until they respond. A case becomes Resolved if a company addresses the complaint to the member’s satisfaction, or it becomes a Stalemate if the provider responds, but the company and the member can’t reach an agreement.
