Coconut Creek homeowner says pool deck is a step up
For about a year, Angie’s List member Chris Forman wanted to fix the deck area around the pool at his Coconut Creek, Florida, home. Forman says the old pavers were there when he moved in 10 years ago.
Forman originally wanted a modern deck using rectangular tiles. But every company he called said it would cost $20,000. “My girlfriend says I have champagne tastes on a beer budget,” he says.
He looked at travertine tile and found a product in a color and style he really liked. Then he checked Angie’s List to find someone to install it.
Forman says he was impressed when Brian Ross, owner of highly rated Ross Services in Pompano Beach, Florida, came to look at the job. Though Forman thought the old pavers would need to be torn out, Ross informed him that he could cover the pavers with the travertine. “I was a little unsure about placing the travertine over top of the old stuff, but after having it explained to me, I was fine with it,” he says.
Ross and his crew installed the travertine and expanded the deck area around the hot tub. According to Forman, Ross Services completed the $9,000 job in about two weeks. “It was ridiculously fast, from the time I spoke to him to the time the travertine was delivered to when it was started,” he says.
Forman says he had a few minor issues, but Ross responded quickly and corrected them. “I called him, and he came out right away,” he says. “If I called him today, he’d probably still come out.”
